Various Blends & Information

VIDEO LOADS AUTOMATICALLY!!!!

Greetings fellow funk/hip hop/soul practitioners/listeners...how goes it?
I know I promised a new music post last week but the fiance and I ran down to Amelia Island, FL to do some recon work on the place we are getting married. So that took 6 hours each way and well I just didn't have time.

But nonetheless I have some updates for you today, some musical, some links, and some commentary.

And Awwwwaaaaayyyyyy we go!!!!

======================

First up, some of you may remember around December (or Decembruh as Jamar would say) myself along with Mentos & Gest released our debut LP, "The Axiom". We've had some very good feedback from the people who have bought it and those who have reviewed it.

Now that we've essentially been out for a few months, we'd like to again advertise our music to you, the loyal readers of The Funk. Mentos has spent a rack of time sweating over the Mac to put up the new and improved
Bash Brothers website. So do your brain a favor and head on over to get the goodness...and if you do feel so inclined, pick up a copy of our CD.

Why? Well here are a few reasons:

1. It's kwelity Hip Hop Music!
2. Makes a great gift to your friends!

3. Mentos is trying to buy a new house in Queens!

4. Gest lives in LA....in LA for Pete's sake!

5. Furious just bought a house, is getting married, and expecting a baby!

Currently you can get our LP at
CdBaby, iTunes, eMusic, Tower Records, & UndergroundHipHop.com... As Joey at Straight Bangin' would say, "Peep Game!"

The homies over at
EarFuzz recently did a post about YZ. Don't know Brother YZ? Well it's hard to find any info on the rapper who so poignantly asked "What are the last two letters of the alphabet?".

EarFuzz and myself aren't the only cats who have
no idea what the deal with YZ is today. Kinda came and went.

I distinctively remember rocking "In Control of Things" while mowing the grass and loving the laid back feel of the track - Always had one of those vibes that screamed "smoothness" but "hardcore" (for the time period anyhow).

I went 'ah diggin on the net and came up with the video for the aforementioned "In Control of Things"....one which I had not seen in some time. So I thusly posted it below: (Beware of the man in the bikini briefs! More later...)

Okay so I have two questions....

1. WTF was YZ thinking putting that guy in the briefs in the video much less letting him within 500 feet of the set? Seriously, one of the more Brokeback moments in Hip Hop. Speaking of which, has someone ever put together THAT list?

2. Seriously, could you approve that during the editing process? What was the convo like?:

Yo Z?

Yeah?

I think this video needs something...some sort of pizazz, what do you suggest?

I don't know man, maybe a few more girlies

IGOT IT! How about a bodybuilding brother in bikini briefs?
......
......

Okay, bet.

Something like that anyhow. But don't let that one video fool you, Brother YZ was a good emcee. I'd LimeWire him and check out a few of his other tracks just for good measure.

Some Musica for you:

OutKast - Funky Ride
KRS-One - Undaground
