When one thinks of Sweden, you normally conjure up images of Hot blondes, indestructible cars, and that scene in the second Wayne's World movie where Wayne tells the radio station secretary about his 8th grade project on Sweden, to which she replies that she must have his children. Something like that. But funky experimental jazz doesn't really fit with the Swedish image to me, or so I thought.

Mentos sent me a rar file the other week from a cat named Bo Hansson, who like much of the stuff he sends me, I had never heard of. But like all the stuff he sends me, it turned out to be one heck of a audio piece. The album is called "Magician's Hat", which was released here in the U.S. back in 1973. A fully instrumental album, I found that the arrangements/aural delights of Bo Hansson's out of this solar system style fit nicely into my "introspective" collection of hits. I can only imagine what folks were like when this first hit the record shops back then. And if I puffed the herb/china white, I'm sure I'd have been to Jupiter and back by now.

The whole album is a delight to groove out to, but the three that we've highlighted for you are some of the longer cuts from the LP. So grab some herbal tea (or herbal whatever...Baffoe) and sit back and mellow out to the eclectic yet jazzy sounds of Mr. Hansson. Let me know what you think.

There has been a lot written/hyped up about the Sept. 5th battle royale between The U and The Noles, with good reason. Year in and year out, it's one of the premier matchups in all of college football along with Texas/Oklahoma, Ohio State/Michigan, and Auburn/Alabama. You could roll the dice on which one means more but in the end one of those four is the favorites. But the UM/FSU matchup has some interesting subplots this year:

1. Will the new FSU QB (whoever that may be) be able to shake off the Rix Curse against Miami?
2. Will Miami be able to move the ball against one of the best defenses in all of football with a new RB?
3. Will Devin Hester score? (Dude is like an auto TD machine)
4. Will it not come down to a FG at the end?

Anyhow, it's 3 and some odd months to go until kickoff and already, the jitters are here. AMPED!
