Come On Yawl, Get Live Get Down...

Ressurection (Large Pro remix) - Common (Sense)

I'm sure that this track is nothing of a surprise to most of you reading this. But I had to include it, during this, the week of the remix because it was (still is) one of the most perfect remixes that has ever graced the Kulture. This is personification of the notion that the original version was good, but this one was waaaaaay better .

Common did some of his best work on the Resurrection LP. There is no disputing that. Most famous of course is the timeless and still on point "I Used To Love H.E.R. " Perfection Personified.

Remember when this single came out? I do. I had picked up a cassette dub from my man O'Lekan whose brother Andy had all the newest vinyl back in the day. I was driving my newly acquired 1984 Powder Blue Volvo 240 DL 2-door back to the homebase when bam!, got in the only wreck I've ever been in. Caught a patch of black ice , then solid turf, and off into the trees I went. Thank goodness that Volvos are like tanks. Minimal damage. Super sweatiness when I had to tell Pops about it. I think it cost me more to fix it that it did for me to buy it.

Anyhow, this track, every time I hear it takes me back to that year. High School football, trying to get out of writing 3 page papers (seemed like a grip of work at the time), etc.

This song (and many others off this album) is the prime time example of what was (sort of still is) good about rap music. Before the corporations got a hold and 10 year olds were allowed to go to 50 Cent concerts. But you can't argue that Rap's superstar/pop status hasn't been good for some folks. Cause it has indeed.

It's just not common for most of us.
